Daria Fedosova Barb Warner ISM 3011-901 5 April 2015 Code.org Extra Credit #1. Signed up for Code.org as DariaFedosova #2. Flappy Code Activity #3. Intro to Computer Science Course Stage 1. Introduction to Computer Science In this stage, I have watched an introductory video about computer science and what a computer scientist does in general. According to this video, computer science is a certain way to impact the world. This course will provide more information about computer science and why it is important to know. Stage 2. The Maze Here, I learned the basics about coding through different games. In the first one, I helped an angry bird move through a maze in order to get to the evil pig. In order to write a program, I needed to drag and drop blocks correctly. Also, by using the â€Å"repeat† block in the game I learned how loops are valuable and how computer repeat commands can be useful so people do not waste their time. Next, I had to use â€Å"repeat until† block to set determined goals such as until the angry bird gets the pig. Another game was about a zombie that I needed to feed, where I also used â€Å"repeat until† command to achieve the goal. Besides, I learnt about fundamental concept in programming – â€Å"if† statement. By using â€Å"if† commands the computer program makes a decision. Then, I learn about â€Å"if/else† block command, which made a decision what zombie should do choosing between the two actions. There were some struggles that I have fa ced. Sometimes I didn’t quiteShow MoreRelatedComputers Have Become Increasingly Powerful And Useful1282 Words   |  6 Pagesdecade or less, computers have become increasingly powerful and useful. With greater regularity, computer use is increasing within the classroom. Where is this trend headed? And how is it going to get there? What will it take? Prior to the introduction of computers, classrooms typically consisted of a chalk board at one end of the room, with all of the desks facing that board. The teacher would write information on the board, as the students listened, took notes, and often times passed notes. However,Read MoreComputers Are Born Of Lazy Mathematicians1400 Words   |  6 Pages01110010 01101100 01100100 00100001 Hello, world! That’s what all of those little ones and zeros mean. Having the computer print out the words, â€Å"Hello, world!† is typically one of the very first programs that students learning to write computer code learns to do. It’s quite a simple and straightforward program by today’s standard. But that hasn’t always been the case. The computer science field has been around much longer than most people realize. It didn’t all start with the microchips and processorsRead MoreIntroduction To Chemistry, A Natural Science, And Social Science1249 Words   |  5 PagesThe subjects for this study will be undergraduate students enrolled in either Introduction to Chemistry, a natural science, or General Psychology, a social science, at the University of Arkansas in Spring 2018. Students will enroll in courses based on their own academic preferences. These courses are both scheduled for 50-minute discussion sections that meet two days a week (TT h) from either 9:30 – 10:20 or 10:30 – 11: 20. All identifying features of the student (e.g. names or student ID number)Read MoreThe Role of Nursing Informatics1246 Words   |  5 PagesThe Role of Nursing Informatics The American Nurses Association delineates nursing informatics as a domain that encompasses the integration of nursing science, information science and computer science in order to communicate and manage information, data and knowledge within the nursing practice (Elkind, 2009). Elaborately, nursing informatics facilitates data integration and incorporates both information and knowledge in order to help support patients, nurses together with other healthcare providersRead MoreUsing The New Ideas And Strategies I Have Gained Essay1121 Words   |  5 PagesThe Digital Student In order to understand the ways in which I plan to use the new ideas and strategies I have gained in the â€Å"Digital Student† course, you must first understand my teaching placements. Each school day I teach in two vastly different settings. In the morning I teach at an urban high school. We have roughly twelve hundred and fifty students. At my high school, we face all of the challenges you find in an urban setting. Sixty-one percent of our students are economically challengedRead MoreThe Invention Of Science And Technology994 Words   |  4 Pageslife? Obviously, the answer is science and technology. We can see enormous examples from human’s history. For example, the Industrial Revolution which took place in Britain started the age of steam and open the world market. The Second Industrial Revolution, also known as the Technological Revolution, had a large significant impact of the world and began the age of electricity. All I could remember was that, every night under the dim moonlight, I closed that note book – soaked in the darkness of ink– and rested my eyes to digest my daily meal of words. During those days, I expanded my word bank with unfamiliar dictions from Shakespeare, fiction, and almost any literature I encounter. This information shows that computer science is a major field, and that it is growing rapidly; However, there are not enough people to fill the roles in this field. So, in order to understand how computers work and what career paths are associated with them, It’s important to figure out how the hardware works, software works, and then see what career paths there are in com puter programming andRead MoreWriting Is An Essential Part Of Life1452 Words   |  6 Pagesof writing in in the field of computer science is the coding assignments given to students as practical lessons in coding different types of programs in different languages.
